The Opportunities Are Right in Front of You... Are You Seeing Them?

marketing social media

Working online means we’re surrounded by opportunity all the time. New clients, collaborations, creative ideas, skill-sharing, visibility boosts...

But the truth is, most of us are missing them.

Not because we don’t want them. But because we’re busy, overwhelmed, doubting ourselves or just not quite sure what action to take.

Maybe a post catches your eye. Someone asks a question about something you know inside out, but instead of commenting, you scroll past. Maybe you spot a request in a Facebook group for a skill you definitely have, but you tell yourself, “I’m not that qualified.”

We get it. Imposter syndrome is real. So is overthinking!

But the best advice we can give?

👉 If something catches your eye – go for it.
The first move is the hardest. Once you’ve made it, the rest will follow.

Start by Owning What You’re Already Great At

Before you go hunting for opportunities, take a moment to reconnect with what you actually enjoy doing and what you're already brilliant at.

  • What are you currently doing for clients that feels easy to you, but is saving them hours or headspace?
  • What tech platform do you love playing around with?
  • Are you the one who naturally organises things, simplifies systems, or brings calm to chaos?

You don’t need to learn something new. You just need to own what you already do well.

The Places You’re Already Hanging Out Are Full of Opportunity

Facebook Groups

How many groups have you joined… but never set foot in?

Scroll through the ones you’ve joined - VA spaces, niche-specific groups, industry circles. Set a reminder once a week to spend 15 minutes being genuinely helpful in just a few of them:

  • Answer a question
  • Offer a quick tip
  • DM someone if you can help solve their problem

People remember helpful. People trust helpful. And you never know what it might lead to.

LinkedIn & Instagram

These platforms might not be the place people are directly asking for help, but they’re absolutely where relationships are being built.

Instead of scrolling aimlessly, check your feed once a week with this mindset:
“Who can I connect with? Who could I support?”

Leave thoughtful comments. Add to conversations. Offer insight. The more visible and consistent you are, the more people will remember your name when the right opportunity does pop up.

💡 Quick reminder: Make sure your bio clearly states what you do and what you’re an expert in, so when you do show up, it’s obvious how you can help.

Create Plug & Go Offers You Can Whip Out Easily

You don’t always need a full sales page and launch plan. Sometimes the best opportunities come from simply being ready.

Try this:

1️⃣ Write down 2–3 things you can do really well that others might struggle with.

2️⃣ Turn them into mini offers or one-off sessions. Think:

    • Tech setup
    • Email campaign writing & setup
    • CRM tidy-up session
    • Instagram bio & highlight refresh
    • Automation setup or review

3️⃣ Give them a name, a price, and a short description. Keep it simple.

Next time you see a relevant conversation? Comment. Engage. Offer help. Be ready with a message or link.

This isn’t about cold pitching. It’s about being visible as a helpful expert.
